Dining Kitchen in a Converted Pub
This property was in state of severe disrepair when acquired by its owners; a former village pub that had stood empty for many years, and hadn’t had any maintenance done for a long time before that. With the help of local firm Bench Architects and building contractor HA Briddon Ltd they set about turning it into a family home. We were asked to design the kitchen, utility room and bedroom furniture (both of which can be seen in in the other furniture galleries).
The kitchen is a big space with dual aspect windows and doors, so gets plenty of light. The clients specifically wanted a practical kitchen with space for a large dining table rather than an island unit, and wanted to include a large Lacanche cooker, American fridge-freezer, two integrated dishwashers and a prep sink with boiling water tap. Built-in recycling bins and various practical storage solutions were included, along with shelving to display some of their pottery collection. The cooker is framed by a chimney feature which has little cupboards in the uprights and conceals a powerful Lacanche extractor - this is all centred on the opposite doorway.
This was a lovely project to be involved with - it’s wonderful to see a beautiful building bought back to life with such love and care.
