Blue Kitchen in a Converted Water Mill
The interior designer owner of this stunning converted water mill in Surrey knew what she wanted to do in the kitchen but was struggling to find a company locally that could help her achieve her ideal design, without charging an eye-watering sum to do it. An internet search led her to us, and we were the first company she’d asked who could answer ‘yes’ to everything she wanted and work within her budget.
This kitchen is a true one-off. The beautiful ‘Yorkshire range’ style fireplace looks like an antique, and is an antique, but one that has been cleverly converted to house two electric ovens and an induction hob. The very tall pitched ceiling on the right hand side of the kitchen had units made to fill the entire space, with a bespoke ladder included to access them. The island unit is freestanding and on castors to allow it to be moved should access ever be required to the floor hatch hidden beneath it. A clever mirrored panel to the side of the platerack replicates the window panels and makes it appear as though the window extends around the side of the room, whilst bouncing light back into the space.
Shades of blue and white Silestone worktops give a calm feel, and contrast beautifully with warmth of the exposed brickwork and original pine floorboards.
