Cricket tables were made as simple pieces of vernacular British furniture in the 18th and 19th centuries, often for cottages or taverns with uneven flagstone floors, as the three legs mean they will stand on an uneven surface without wobbling. Their simple lines mean that they work equally well in traditional and contemporary settings. As antique cricket tables are highly sought after, and often command very high prices, we decided to build our own interpretation of one.
This table is designed and made in our Derbyshire workshop. Alex, our cabinetmaker, experimented with many different shapes for the legs before deciding on this one. The legs are six sided at the top, but taper down to four sides at the bottom. They might look simple but are tricky to make! Despite its clean lines and minimal parts, the table is very solid and is an ideal size for a coffee table or as a lower side table next to a sofa or chair.
This model is hand painted for a traditional finish using Fusion Mineral Paint 'Prairie Sunset', which is a wonderful sunny yellow.
We also offer a taller version of this table - please see our other items.
