Shaker Painted Tulipwood and Oak Kitchen.
The owners of this beautiful Lincolnshire house wanted a homely, comfortable kitchen that wasn’t overcrowded by cabinetry. A large AGA was top of the wish-list, and there was only one wall it could realistically be positioned against, so the design evolved around that. Simple shaker style cabinetry built from solid tulipwood is painted in a neutral colour and topped with practical quartz worktops. There wasn’t space for an island in the main kitchen area, so we moved it along to stand in front of the tall oak cupboard which conceals a full height fridge, freezer and space for a microwave. By painting the island a bold colour it makes in into a feature, even though it is slightly separate from the immediate cooking area. Whilst not huge, the island incorporates storage, cook-book shelving, a breakfast bar and useful additional worktop space, and sits well in the larger open plan room.
