Victorian House Kitchen in a Pippy Oak and Painted Finish

This kitchen was designed to match the period architectural details of the Victorian property, the beading on the cabinet doors made to replicate that on the original internal doors and window shutters. Created from Pippy Oak and a contrasting paint finish, the kitchen is perfectly proportioned to the room with the result that it feels as though it’s always been there, though with all modern practicalities accounted for.

The client wanted the cabinets to feel ‘tall’ so that they weren’t dwarfed by the height of the ceilings. We achieved this be making the wall cabinets and full height cabinets extra tall and emphasising this with narrow vertical panels. A ‘dirty’ kitchen in an adjacent room meant that a large kitchen sink wasn’t required, as all washing up was taken away. so a small sink on the island was ample for their requirements. We included various practical storage solutions, such as the drawer with slots to house oven trays and chopping boards vertically, and the pull-put storage in the chimney feature. A large ‘dresser’ at the dining end of the kitchen provided additional storage space whilst blending in perfectly with the overall look.
