Shaker Style Pippy Oak Kitchen
The owners of this cottage in a north Derbyshire village were initially planning to install a painted kitchen, as the room could be dark at certain times of day, and problems with floor levels meant it would be a huge job to replace the quarry tile floor, which was also a little dark. They thought painted units would help to lighten the room, but when they saw our pippy oak cabinetry they fell in love and that idea went out the window!
However, by using pale quartz worktops and omitting wall units, along with white walls, the new kitchen still feels much brighter than the previous one.
A curved unit on the end of the peninsular area softens the space where you step down to the lower level dining area beyond, and an oak shelf and some ingenious wall mounted bar stools (which our client sourced from the US) create a useful breakfast bar. The bi-fold door unit to the side of the chimney breast had to be made to fit around the extractor duct pipe that exits to the outer wall. Large pan drawer units and a walk-in pantry (not in shot) ensure plenty of storage space.
